Fakieh Planetarium World Space Week Activities

Since its United Nations declaration in 1999, World Space Week has grown into the largest public space event on Earth. More than 2,700 events in 86 countries celebrated the benefits of space and excitement about space exploration in 2016.

Each year, the World Space Week Association (WSWA) selects a theme for the upcoming World Space Week (WSW) to provide a focus of the activities and events that take a place throughout the world, during 4-10 October . WSWA is pleased to announce the 2017 World Space Week Theme: “Exploring New Worlds in Space”.

Space Activities

Description
  Schools: 8:30am – 12:00am
Public: 6:00pm – 10:00pm

 
• Space Craft: Find out about the different types of space craft, from rocket launch vehicles to rovers and probes.

• Space Hygiene: Understand how easily germs can be spread using a fun experiment in the dark.

• Moon Sand: Play with different materials and textures to understand what moon dust might feel like.

  Schools: 8:30am – 12:00am

 

 • 3D Pictures: View 3D space images using 3D glasses

Passport to the Universe


Passport to the Universe takes audiences on a thrilling journey through the observable universe. Fly beneath the rings of Saturn, float through the heart of the Orion Nebula, and plunge into a black hole during this captivating introduction to cosmology.
